About Our Practitioner, Andrew Lin

Andrew Lin is a second-generation acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner with over 10 years of clinical experience and a focused interest in degenerative eye and retinal conditions. Born in Taiwan and raised in Coquitlam, Andrew was exposed to Chinese medicine early in life by observing his father in clinical practice. This early experience shaped a lasting appreciation for natural, systems-based medicine and its ability to support healing across all stages of life.

Over time, Andrew’s clinical focus narrowed toward eye health particularly conditions involving the retina, optic nerve, and nervous system. His work today reflects this specialization, emphasizing structured, condition-specific care designed to support circulation, neurological signaling, and long-term visual function.

Andrew completed the four-year Doctor of Chinese Medicine program at PCU College of Holistic Medicine under the guidance of senior physicians trained in China. He is a member in good standing with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia (CCHPBC).

A second-generation acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine practitioner. Andrew was born in Taiwan and raised in Coquitlam. At a very young age, he was exposed to the benefits of Chinese medicine by observing his father in practice. The understanding of the value to help patients of all ages restore their health through natural methods was deeply rooted. Andrew has a strong passion in health and fitness and often incorporates this knowledge into his treatments with his patients.

Andrew completed the 4-year Chinese medicine practitioner program at PCU College of Holistic Medicine under the guidance of very talented doctors from China. He is now a good standing member with the College of Traditional Chinese MedicinePractitioners & Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA)

Clinical Focus & Specialized Training

With over a decade in practice, Andrew’s approach integrates classical Chinese medicine with modern clinical frameworks and neurological understanding. Rather than relying on a single modality, treatment strategies are selected and combined based on diagnosis, stage of disease, and patient-specific goals particularly in complex and degenerative eye conditions.

Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology

A modern clinical system developed specifically for eye disease. This approach addresses conditions such as macular degeneration (AMD), retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, Stargardt’s disease, and chronic dry eye by targeting circulation, inflammation, and metabolic stress within the visual system. Andrew is among a small number of practitioners in Canada trained in these methods.

Micro-Acupuncture

A specialized system originally developed in Denmark and later refined for ophthalmic use. Micro-acupuncture focuses on restoring blood flow and neurological signaling to the eyes and optic nerve, making it particularly relevant for degenerative and ischemic eye conditions.

Scalp Acupuncture

A hybrid system combining traditional acupuncture with modern neuroanatomy. Scalp acupuncture is especially effective for conditions involving the central nervous system, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, and neurological contributors to visual impairment.

Functional Pulse Diagnosis

An advanced diagnostic method that evaluates systemic blood flow and physiological patterns through the radial pulse. This information helps guide treatment strategies for conditions that indirectly affect eye health, such as inflammation, fatigue, stress, and metabolic imbalance.

Balance Method Acupuncture

A distal-point system that works through neuro-signaling pathways rather than local needling. This method is often used to restore circulation and reduce pathological stress in affected tissues, including the eyes.

Motor Point Acupuncture & Dry Needling

Anatomically based techniques used to release muscular tension, improve posture, and reduce mechanical strain factors that can influence cervical circulation, cranial tension, and ocular blood flow.

Philosophy of Care

Andrew’s clinical philosophy is grounded in clarity, structure, and realism. Treatments are designed to support retinal health, optimize circulation, and help preserve existing vision where possible, while remaining transparent about limitations and individual variability.

Patients often seek out Andrew when they are looking for a thoughtful, integrative approach one that respects both classical medicine and modern understanding of how the eyes function within the body as a whole.
